A highly regarded, fast-growing insurance business is seeking a driven and commercially astute Business Development Director to join their London team. This is a pivotal, client-facing role at the heart of the company's growth strategy, focused on identifying and converting new business opportunities within the Corporate and Large Commercial insurance market.

Working closely with specialist teams across Large Corporate, Real Estate and wider group divisions, you will be the external face of the business, proactively building a pipeline of high-quality prospects and turning them into long-term, profitable client relationships. RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Generate, develop and convert new business opportunities across the Corporate insurance division
  • Build and maintain a structured new business pipeline and prospect plan aligned to growth objectives
  • Identify and capitalise on market opportunities to grow insurance income
  • Engage proactively with prospects using targeted marketing materials and campaigns
  • Collaborate with the Marketing team to develop campaign plans for key target markets
  • Utilise sales and prospecting tools to maximise lead generation activity
  • Meet and exceed personal new business production targets
  • Accurately assess client needs and deliver tailored product recommendations in line with regulatory standards
  • Work collaboratively with internal specialist teams to support cross-functional business development
  • Represent the full range of group services to prospective clients

DAY-TO-DAY

  • Proactively prospecting and developing new business leads across the Corporate and Large Commercial market
  • Attending client meetings, pitches and networking events to build relationships and raise profile
  • Building and managing a live pipeline of opportunities at various stages of conversion
  • Liaising with internal broking, placement and specialist teams to develop compelling client propositions
  • Coordinating with Marketing on targeted campaign activity and collateral
  • Maintaining accurate records of all prospect and pipeline activity
  • Keeping up to date with market trends, competitor activity and regulatory developments

EXPERIENCE

  • Proven track record in a business development, sales or client-facing role within insurance or financial services
  • Demonstrable success in meeting and exceeding new business growth targets
  • Experience working within or alongside Corporate, Large Commercial or Real Estate insurance teams
  • Strong understanding of B2B client dynamics and the ability to engage at senior decision-maker level
  • Familiarity with compliance frameworks and client fairness principles within a regulated environment
  • Experience using sales and prospecting tools such as Acturis or similar platforms is advantageous
