The Opportunity
We're working with a well-established insurer seeking a Development Underwriter to join their commercial team, covering the South East region. This is a field-based role focused on driving profitable growth across the mid-market commercial sector, with a particular emphasis on Property and Liability business. Working closely with regional sales teams and distribution partners, you'll play a key role in identifying and securing new business opportunities while managing your own underwriting portfolio.
Responsibilities
- Drive new business growth across the mid-market commercial sector.
- Underwrite Property & Liability risks in line with appetite and strategy.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders and trading partners.
- Attend client and broker meetings across the South East region.
- Act as a technical referral point, providing underwriting expertise and guidance.
- Work collaboratively with wider teams to identify and convert growth opportunities.
Qualifications
- Cert CII/Dip CII or equivalent qualifications are beneficial but not essential.
Required Skills
- You'll already have a strong background in Commercial Underwriting and enjoy both the technical and relationship-building aspects of the role.
- Commercial Property & Liability underwriting experience.
- Strong new business underwriting capability.
- Experience developing and maintaining external relationships.
- Excellent communication and influencing skills.
