PURPOSE OF ROLE
An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced insurance professional to join a leading commercial insurance brokerage as a Broker Team Leader.
This is a leadership role responsible for managing, developing and motivating a team of Account Handlers and Brokers, ensuring exceptional service standards are delivered to a diverse portfolio of commercial clients. The successful candidate will play a key role in driving operational performance, supporting team development and maintaining strong relationships with clients and insurer partners.
This position would suit an experienced Team Leader, Senior Account Handler or Broker looking to take the next step into a people management role, or an established leader seeking a fresh challenge within a growing and forward-thinking business.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead, motivate and develop a team of Commercial Brokers and Account Handlers.
- Manage day-to-day workflow, ensuring service standards and client expectations are consistently achieved.
- Conduct regular one-to-one meetings, performance reviews and coaching sessions.
- Support the team with complex client queries, renewals and placement strategies.
- Ensure compliance with FCA regulations, internal procedures and quality standards.
- Monitor team KPIs and implement improvements to maximise efficiency and client satisfaction.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with insurer partners and key clients.
- Assist with recruitment, onboarding and training of new team members.
- Work closely with senior leadership to support business objectives and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Encourage collaboration, accountability and a high-performance team culture.
DAY-TO-DAY
- Managing and supporting a team of insurance professionals.
- Reviewing workloads and allocating business across the team.
- Providing technical guidance on commercial insurance placements.
- Coaching and mentoring individuals to maximise performance.
- Monitoring service levels and operational performance.
- Liaising with insurers and clients on more complex cases.
- Supporting business development through excellent client retention and service delivery.
- Attending management meetings and contributing to operational planning.
EXPERIENCE
- Previous experience within a Commercial Insurance Brokerage.
- Experience managing or mentoring a team, or acting as a senior referral point.
- Strong technical knowledge across commercial insurance products.
- Experience handling complex commercial risks and client portfolios.
- Proven ability to deliver excellent customer service while managing operational priorities.
- Experience using Acturis or a similar broking platform would be advantageous.
