Strategic Relationship Director - Education, Student & NFP

Ready to take the lead on strategic partnerships and drive commercial growth within the insurance sector?

I'm recruiting for a leading international insurance group seeking an experienced Strategic Relationship Director to manage and develop a portfolio of key affinity partners and Appointed Representatives (ARs).

This is a senior commercial leadership opportunity for someone who excels at building long-term strategic relationships, identifying growth opportunities and balancing commercial performance with effective governance and regulatory compliance.

You'll play a key role in strengthening existing partnerships, maximising revenue opportunities and helping shape the future direction of a growing specialist division.

The Opportunity

You'll take ownership of a portfolio of strategically important partners, working closely with senior stakeholders to develop relationships, improve performance and deliver sustainable commercial growth.

Acting as a trusted adviser to executive and board-level contacts, you'll develop partnership strategies, identify opportunities to enhance propositions and ensure relationships deliver long-term value.

This role offers the autonomy to influence strategy, develop key partnerships and make a tangible contribution to the wider business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop strategic affinity partner and Appointed Representative relationships.
  • Build strong relationships with executive and board-level stakeholders.
  • Drive retention, revenue growth and profitability through strategic account planning and proposition development.
  • Lead partnership reviews, governance meetings and performance discussions.
  • Identify opportunities to expand existing partnerships, enhance propositions and introduce new products.
  • Ensure partners operate within agreed governance frameworks and regulatory requirements.
  • Monitor commercial performance, manage risk and implement continuous improvements.
  • Support the onboarding and integration of new strategic partners.
  • Represent the business at client meetings, industry events and networking opportunities.
  • Contribute to divisional strategy and long-term business growth initiatives.

What We're Looking For

  • Proven experience managing strategic partnerships, affinity relationships or major accounts within a regulated environment.
  • A strong track record of delivering commercial growth, retention and long-term relationship success.
  • Experience working with Appointed Representatives, affinity schemes or delegated distribution models.
  • Strong commercial acumen and the ability to identify and deliver new opportunities.
  • Confidence and credibility when engaging with executive and board-level stakeholders.
  • Excellent relationship management, communication and negotiation skills.
  • An understanding of regulatory requirements, governance and risk management, ideally within insurance or financial services.
  • The ability to balance commercial objectives with compliance and positive customer outcomes.

Why Consider This Opportunity?

This is an opportunity to join a well-established international insurance group in a senior position with significant influence over strategic partnerships and commercial performance.

You'll have the opportunity to shape partnership strategies, strengthen key relationships and contribute directly to the long-term growth of a specialist division, working alongside senior leaders in a collaborative and commercially focused environment.
