Job title: Assistant Underwriter – Commercial Insurance
Salary: £30,000
Location: London
ROLE PURPOSE
We\’re working closely with a leading insurance provider to find an experienced Assistant Underwriter to join their Commercial New Business department. The position entails assisting the New Business Underwriting team by managing less complex tasks, fostering broker relationships, and delivering exceptional customer service.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Review and underwrite lower complexity new business quotations.
- Liaise with brokers to make necessary amendments on new business quotes.
- Communicate regularly with Trading Underwriters, Team Leaders, and Trading Managers.
- Ensure all work is completed within SLA\’s and maintain broker relationships.
- Answer phone calls from brokers in a professional and friendly manner.
- Operate within the Underwriting License and promote overall corporate goals.
- Ensure compliance with Treating Customers Fairly (TCF) principles.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- Working towards or already achieved CII qualification.
- One year experience in insurance.
SKILLS AND EXPECTATIONS
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Sound working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Competence in team working, problem solving, and organisational skills desirable.
- Positive attitude, reliability, and dependability.
- Demonstrate excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
DAY-TO-DAY
You will be responsible for reviewing and underwriting new business quotations, maintaining broker relationships, and ensuring compliance with company processes and procedures.
