About The Firm: My client, a rapidly growing organisation within the legal sector, is looking to hire a highly organised Legal Aid Billing Coordinator to join their finance team. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work on legal aid billing matters, collaborating with fee earners, third parties, and support staff to ensure effective and efficient billing processes.

Costs Draftsperson role requirements:

Highly organised
Excellent attention to detail
Excellent IT skills – familiar with Microsoft Office applications, Leap, and document management systems.
Self-starter and results-driven
Innovative in your approach to billing systems in order to achieve efficient results
Demonstrate a clear understanding of Civil Legal Aid Billing
Strong academic background
Legal experience as a Costs Draftsman or a Costs Lawyer.
Clear understanding and application of the Legal Aid Agency rules relating to costs.
Minimum of 2 years\’ experience in drafting legal aid bills.
Excellent communication skills.
Self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision.Key Responsibilities of the Costs Draftsperson:

Prepare and process Legal Aid Claims and inter partes bills
Draft High Cost Case Plans (an advantage)
Complete post-assessment work efficiently
Liaise and advise fee earners and support staff on various legal costs matters
Correspond with third parties such as experts and counsel
Upload claims to the Legal Aid Agency (LAA)
Implement recommendations made by the Director following monthly reviews, ensuring timely completion
