Located in the West End, our client, a boutique law firm that provides a high level of service throughout their practice, is currently recruiting an experienced Practice Manager to join them. Their other offices are located in South London, Essex and Surrey.
About this Legal Practice Manager role: The Practice Manager will provide strategic and operational leadership across the firm, working closely with the Partners to drive growth, ensure regulatory compliance, and deliver efficient, high-performing business operations. The role has full responsibility for compliance, HR, IT, facilities, and business support functions, acting as a key decision-maker and trusted adviser to the Partnership.
Key Responsibilities for this Legal Practice Manager role:- Strategic & Operational Leadership: Work collaboratively with Partners to support and deliver the firm's strategic, growth, and marketing plans. Lead and oversee the day-to-day operational management of the firm. Drive continuous improvement, process review, and transformational change across departments. Manage complex projects including office relocations, mergers, and systems implementations.
- Compliance & Risk: Reporting to COLP and COFA to assist in ensuring full compliance with SRA regulations and Solicitors Accounts Rules. Oversee PII renewals, Practising Certificate renewals, and lender panel memberships (CQS, LMS, Lender Exchange) and applications for Cyber Essentials, LEXCEL etc if required. Implement and maintain robust client onboarding, ID verification, and risk management procedures. Carry out AML file reviews and reporting to MLCO and MLRO. Ensure data integrity and regulatory compliance across all firm systems and processes.
- HR & People Management: Lead HR and recruitment at all levels of the firm. Manage onboarding of new staff. Oversee employee relations, performance management, and staff development. Manage benefits, insurance policies, and wellbeing initiatives. Support training programmes and internal events.
- Business Development & Marketing: Support practice marketing and business development initiatives. Organise client events, internal training sessions, and firm-wide communications. Contribute to brand positioning and operational support for growth.
- Facilities & Office Management: Oversee office management and facilities, including office suppliers and utilities. Lead office moves, refurbishments, and premises projects. Manage outsourced services including file, deed, and will storage, including overseeing archiving of files.
Experience for this Legal Practice Manager role:
- Significant experience with a law firm.
- Knowledge of SRA regulations, COFA, and legal finance.
- Experience in managing finance, HR, IT, and compliance functions.
- Be commercially aware, professional, and highly organised.
- Have collaborative leadership skills.
