They represent a diverse client base from high-net-worth individuals to vulnerable people lacking capacity and frequently act as Independent Administrators, Trustees, and Deputies on complex matters involving breach of trust and ownership disputes. The team is Top-Tier ranked and known nationally for their thought leadership in contentious probate.
Position Overview:
You will manage a varied caseload of medium to high-value disputes in wills, estates, inheritance, and trusts. You will work alongside renowned experts in the field with strong opportunity for career progression.
Key Responsibilities:
- Handle contentious probate disputes for claimants and defendants, including challenges to validity of wills
- Advise on Inheritance (Provision for Family and Dependants) Act 1975 claims
- Manage disputes concerning executors, trustees, and beneficiaries
- Draft pleadings, witness statements and settlement correspondence
- Engage in ADR and attend mediations, hearings, and client conferences
- Maintain compliance and accurate case records
- Collaborate with private client and wider litigation teams
- Stay current with probate legislation and share expertise within the team
Requirements:
- Qualified Solicitor in England & Wales
- 2-5 years PQE in contentious probate litigation
- Strong advocacy, drafting and negotiation skills
- Ability to manage complex and sensitive matters independently
- Excellent interpersonal and client-care skills
- Highly organised and able to work to deadlines
Desirable:
- ACTAPS membership or willingness to obtain
- Mediation/ADR experience
- Ability to support business development initiatives
