Court of Protection Paralegal β€” Position Overview:

  • Work with a team of partners, solicitors and paralegals in the Court of Protection department
  • Assist in the provision of administrative and legal services for clients
  • Attend clients at hospitals, care homes and in their own homes
  • Work under the supervision of a Partner, receiving cases from across the team
  • Continue to develop your legal ability

Key Responsibilities of the Court of Protection Paralegal:

  • Assisting in the provision of administrative and legal services for clients
  • Assisting in the provision of legal advice under supervision and taking notes in client meetings
  • Attending clients at hospitals, care homes and in their homes
  • Making regular payments to clients, keeping accurate schedules, forecasting spending and creating budgets
  • Managing written and telephone correspondence with clients, solicitors and third parties professionally and confidentially
  • Producing plain English letters, witness statements, court applications and other documents
  • Delegating and supervising tasks where appropriate and maintaining client care standards

Requirements of the Court of Protection Paralegal:

  • A degree in Law and previous Court of Protection experience is preferred but not essential
  • Good Microsoft skills, particularly Word and Excel, and the ability to work with figures
  • Able to work to tight deadlines and work well under pressure
  • Organised, with the ability to prioritise
  • A flexible and proactive approach with a 'can do' attitude
  • Excellent oral, written and interpersonal skills with a good customer focus
