An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced part-time Compliance Manager to join a well-established and highly regarded law firm. This is a pivotal role working closely with the Managing Partner and Management Team, offering a competitive salary (pro-rata), performance-related bonus, generous holiday entitlement (5 weeks plus Christmas closure, pro-rata), pension, life assurance, income protection, and a strong commitment to work-life balance and professional development.

Compliance Manager – Position Overview: This is a part-time role responsible for overseeing the firm’s compliance framework, ensuring regulatory adherence and effective risk management. You will work autonomously while collaborating closely with senior stakeholders across the firm.
Key Responsibilities of the Compliance Manager:
- Oversight of SRA Codes of Conduct and regulatory compliance
- Recording and monitoring compliance breaches for COLP and COFA
- Managing complaints handling processes
- Anti-Money Laundering compliance and awareness
- Preparation for Lexcel and ISO audits
- Maintaining and reviewing firm policies, registers and office manuals
- Implementing and overseeing the firm’s audit plan
- Managing GDPR matters including data retention and destruction
- Coordinating practising certificate applications and CPD compliance
- Renewal of Professional Indemnity Insurance
- Risk management including file review systems and annual reporting
- Supporting diversity audits and firm-wide compliance awareness
- Working with department leads to ensure regulatory obligations are met
Requirements of the Compliance Manager:
- Strong understanding of the regulatory framework governing solicitors
- Working knowledge of SRA Codes of Conduct and Accounts Rules
- Previous law firm compliance or governance experience
- Ability to exercise sound judgement on regulatory matters
- Comfortable working independently while collaborating with stakeholders
- Strong organisational, analytical and communication skills
- IT confident with Microsoft Office and legal systems
