We are looking for a News Reporter to join World Trademark Review (WTR) in our London or Manchester office. WTR is a trusted source of worldwide news, analysis and data on the management of trademarks and broader brand protection. In-house experts and private practitioners around the world rely on WTR to stay informed on the developments and issues that matter in the intellectual property (IP) industry and wider business community. WTR has journalists in London, Manchester, and Hong Kong. This is a unique opportunity to develop as a journalist; to build a strong network of sources in the IP community across the globe; and to produce original news, features and analysis. Key Responsibilities

  • Writing news and analysis covering legal disputes, policy updates, and political developments that shape the trademark and brand protection landscape.
  • Building a network of sources in the global trademark community.
  • Balancing a range of tasks in the newsroom, from breaking news stories to nuts-and-bolts fact-gathering and research for data-led projects.
  • Attending events for the purpose of building contacts, sourcing information and positively representing the brand.

Skills Knowledge and Expertise

  • Degree in Journalism, Communications or Law, or relevant work experience.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to generate content leads and find sharp angles in stories.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines.
  • Self-starter, confident in covering this critical and growing area of law and business.
  • Team-oriented and collaborative outlook in newsrooms.
  • Knowledge of the field of intellectual property would be an advantage.
