The Role

We are seeking an ambitious and analytically minded Data Projects Reporter to lead high-impact, data-driven journalism across the corporate legal sector. This role sits at the intersection of reporting, research, and analytics. You will originate, build, and execute data-led editorial projects that uncover trends in law firm performance, legal markets, client demand, talent mobility, profitability, pricing, innovation and more. You will transform complex datasets into authoritative stories, visualisations, rankings, and special reports that shape industry conversation.

The Team

Law.com International has a network of reporters, correspondents and editors across 14 countries, all of whom are energetic, dynamic, upbeat individuals who work hard on producing excellent off-diary journalism.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and lead major data-driven editorial projects from conception to publication
  • Analyse and report on proprietary and third-party datasets covering law firms, corporate legal departments, and legal markets
  • Help expand and maintain sector-relevant datasets
  • Identifying data trends and reporting on current trends in the market through a data lens
  • Build relationships with key stakeholders within law firms
  • Break news and produce analytical features grounded in quantitative reporting
  • Conduct interviews and generate qualitative analysis
  • Collaborate with editors, reporters, designers, and commercial teams on flagship reports and special editions
  • Help build and maintain sector-relevant datasets (financials, headcount, deal activity, disputes, etc.)
  • Present findings clearly through compelling storytelling, charts, and visualisation

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

  • Strong experience of using AI platforms such as Claude, ChatGPT and data tools such as SQL
  • Ability to interrogate financial statements and corporate disclosures
  • Exceptional writing and storytelling skills
  • Experience translating complex quantitative analysis into accessible editorial content
  • High attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
  • Familiarity with data visualisation tools (e.g., Tableau, Flourish, Power BI)
