Are you ready to take on your next career challenge? LAW Absolute is recruiting on an exclusive basis to a permanent Property Lawyer position with a local authority based in East London. In your role as a Property Lawyer at the council, you will have the benefit of working within a team where there is excellent business admin and legal assistant support and collaboration. You will have the advantage of being part of a small team of experienced lawyers who work collaboratively to share knowledge and information, in which everyone pulls together to help each other. The council offices are located close to superb transport links, a plethora of shops and restaurants, and nice offices. The team is collaborative, supportive, and friendly. You will benefit from working alongside experienced colleagues who are generous with sharing their knowledge. The council operates a hybrid working policy. Full-time staff work 2 days in the office and 3 days from home. The role offers a salary of £52,194-£55,323 per annum.

The successful Property Lawyer will have a varied caseload to include but not limited to:

  • Leases
  • Licences
  • Deeds of variation
  • Deeds of surrender
  • Rent reviews
  • Acquisitions
  • Property disposals usually by way of auction
  • Joint ventures
  • Title reports/title checks
  • Assisting with the preparation of Compulsory Purchase Orders
  • Managing the current assets portfolios within the general fund and housing register

You will also manage right to buy and housing-related work relating to right to buy transactions, boundary advice, deeds of postponements, registering and removing title restrictions, and title certificates. You will have exposure to some complex matters and the ability to pick up a full and varied caseload from the outset is essential.

You will be an admitted Solicitor, Barrister or CILEX of England and Wales with a current practising certificate. You will possess a minimum of 3 years post-admission experience. You will be a team player, able to work autonomously, generous in sharing your knowledge, have a can-do attitude, and be open to rolling your sleeves up and helping the team. You will also deputise for the Principal Lawyer as and when required.
