Counsel (E&O Litigation) – 12-Month Contract
London (Hybrid Working)
Overview
A leading international insurance group is seeking a qualified lawyer to join its in-house legal team on a 12-month contract. This role will focus on managing and advising on Errors & Omissions (E&O) and wider contentious matters across the business. Working within a collaborative legal function, you’ll be the go-to contact for E&O and professional negligence issues, ensuring consistent litigation standards, stakeholder training and proactive risk management across the Group.
Key Responsibilities
- Advise on and manage contentious matters, primarily E&O and professional negligence claims
- Implement and oversee E&O and litigation standards and processes
- Provide training to business stakeholders on litigation risk and E&O awareness
- Report to senior management on ongoing disputes and emerging risks
- Work closely with Finance on litigation reserves and provisions
- Mentor junior team members on E&O and litigation projects
- Develop strong relationships with external counsel and professional indemnity insurers
Requirements
- Qualified Solicitor (England & Wales), ideally 3–5 years’ PQE
- Experience of insurance law and the insurance market
- Legal experience within, or advising, an insurance intermediary or broker
- Strong track record handling contentious professional negligence or E&O claims
- Excellent communication, analytical and organisational skills
- Comfortable balancing commercial and legal priorities across multiple stakeholders
