We are currently recruiting for an experienced Contracts & Procurement Lawyer to join a local authority on a locum basis. The local authority is based in the Berkshire area.

This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled legal professional with a strong background in commercial contracts and public procurement to support a busy legal team.

You will be responsible for providing legal advice and support across a broad range of contractual and procurement matters, including:

  • Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating commercial contracts
  • Advising on public procurement and tendering processes
  • Supporting departments on procurement strategy and compliance
  • Providing pragmatic legal advice on contractual risk and governance matters
  • Assisting with procurement challenges and complex commercial projects where required

Candidate Requirements

  • Qualified Solicitor, Barrister or Fellow of CILEx
  • Significant experience in contracts and procurement law
  • Strong knowledge of public sector procurement and commercial contracts
  • Ability to manage a varied caseload with minimal supervision
  • Excellent stakeholder management and advisory skills
  • Previous local government experience is highly desirable
  • Experience advising on complex procurement projects within the public sector would be advantageous

This role would suit a confident and proactive lawyer who can provide high-quality legal support while working largely remotely.
