The Role: Strategic Leadership & Legal Oversight
As Legal Director, you will be the foundational legal expert for the organisation, directly shaping the deployment of their funding and resources. You will lead a small, dedicated legal team while providing expert, strategic advice to the General Counsel and Senior Leadership Team.
Key Responsibilities & Impact Areas:
- Programme Structuring & Financing: Provide expert advice on the legal architecture for international grant-making, social investment, and impact-first funding models, ensuring global reach and compliance.
- Charity Law & Governance: Serve as the authority on UK Charity Law, advising the Board and leadership on best practice governance, regulatory requirements, and managing the organisation's charitable status.
- Commercial & Technology Law: Oversee and advise on critical operational matters, including Data Protection (GDPR), Cyber Security, Intellectual Property (IP) licensing, and complex IT Contracts.
- Risk Management: Proactively identify and mitigate significant legal risks related to international operations, regulatory change, and the delivery of the foundation's climate-resilience programmes.
- Team Leadership: Lead, line-manage, and mentor a small team of qualified lawyers, fostering a high-performance, mission-aligned legal service.
Your Expertise
We are seeking a qualified Lawyer who can immediately step into this high-impact role:
- Qualification: Qualified Solicitor in England and Wales.
- Experience: Substantial post-qualification experience, with a demonstrable history of advising senior leadership on complex legal risk and governance.
- Sector Focus (Essential): Proven experience working within the Charity, Not-for-Profit, or INGO (International Non-Governmental Organisation) sectors.
