An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Information Governance Officer to join a forward-thinking London Borough on an initial 3-month locum contract. This is a key role within a busy Information Governance team, supporting the delivery of a robust IG framework and ensuring compliance with relevant legislation. You will work closely with services across the organisation to promote best practice, improve information flows, and manage risk effectively.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and respond to information rights requests including FOI, EIR, Subject Access Requests and complaints
  • Support investigations and responses relating to data breaches and IG incidents
  • Provide advice and guidance on UK GDPR, Data Protection Act 2018, and wider information governance matters
  • Assist with DPIAs, risk assessments, and IG compliance activities
  • Maintain and monitor IG workflows, ensuring timely responses and escalation where required
  • Contribute to audits, reporting, and statutory returns
  • Support service areas in embedding strong information governance practices

About You

  • Strong working knowledge of information governance legislation including UK GDPR, DPA 2018, FOIA and EIR
  • Experience handling information rights requests and IG casework within a public sector setting
  • Ability to assess and manage risk and provide clear, practical advice
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to meet tight deadlines
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills and the ability to work collaboratively across teams

Due to the urgent nature of the role, our client is seeking candidates available on short notice. This is a remote working role apart from the initial collection of IT and training.
