A specialist financial services organisation is seeking a technically strong Banking & Finance lawyer to join its in-house Legal team in London. This position sits within the core Legal function and requires a forward-thinking lawyer to support a broad range of complex matters across the organisation’s lending activities, including commercial real estate lending, consumer credit, SME and corporate lending, and savings products. While the role is broad in scope, candidates with strong banking and finance documentation experience will be particularly well suited.
You will be:
- Drafting and negotiating lending agreements
- Supporting complex deal structuring
- Reviewing detailed banking and finance documentation
- Advising on structured finance and securitisation-related matters
- Advising on financial services regulation and ensuring compliance across lending and savings products
- Identifying and escalating legal and regulatory risk where appropriate
- Partnering closely with product, originations, operations, and risk teams
The Ideal Candidate:
- Qualified lawyer with between 3–8 years’ PQE
- Strong experience in banking and finance law
- Significant exposure to lending documentation
- Ideally experience in a private practice banking team, and/or some in-house experience within a financial institution
- A solid understanding of structured finance and securitisation documentation
- Commercial, proactive, and forward-thinking
- Genuinely interested in building a long-term in-house career
- Comfortable working directly with senior stakeholders
- Open to adopting technology and AI tools
