A local authority based in Berkshire is seeking a Senior Employment Lawyer to join their team for an initial 3-month period. The successful Senior Employment Lawyer will be required to pick up a full and varied caseload from the outset. You will advise HR clients on matters such as staff discipline, grievances, sickness absence etc. alongside TUPE related matters, discrimination, unfair dismissal, and employment tribunal matters. Previous local government experience is highly advantageous. You will handle a contentious and non-contentious caseload.
To apply for this role, you will have:
- A current practising certificate and be entitled to practice in England as a Solicitor, Barrister, or Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Legal Executive with the relevant rights.
- Post qualification experience on employment matters.
- Proven experience of tribunal matters.
- An ability to work to tight deadlines and work well whilst under pressure.
- An ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Be able to conduct your own advocacy for short hearings.
This is a hybrid working role. Due to the urgent nature of the position, we are seeking candidates available on no more than two weeks’ notice.
