LAW Absolute are seeking an experienced Childcare Advocate (Solicitor or Barrister) to join a Local Authority legal team on a locum basis while permanent recruitment is underway. This is a temporary role for three months initially.
This role is ideally suited to a highly capable advocate who enjoys court work and can confidently represent the authority in a range of public law childcare proceedings.
The successful candidate will be required to undertake the following:
- Conduct advocacy at public law childcare hearings.
- Represent the Local Authority at all stages of care proceedings.
- Manage hearing preparation and attendance.
- Work closely with the childcare legal team to ensure effective case progression.
- No caseload responsibility – the primary focus of the role is advocacy.
- Where hearings are not scheduled, providing support with:
- Drafting legal advice
- Legal research
- Training and development initiatives
- Other childcare legal matters as required by the team
Essential Requirements:
- Qualified Solicitor or Barrister with significant Childcare/Public Law experience.
- Strong advocacy skills with the ability to represent a Local Authority effectively in court.
- Previous Local Government childcare experience is highly desirable.
- Ability to work independently and integrate quickly into an established legal team.
- Available to start at short notice.
The role is offering a rate of between £60-65 per hour umbrella. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Childcare Advocate looking for a court-focused locum assignment with a well-established local authority.
