LAW Absolute is recruiting on behalf of a Local Authority based in North London, for an experienced planning lawyer on a permanent basis. You will advise the council, its cabinet and committee members on a broad range of planning, environment, regeneration, and highways matters. This is a senior lawyer role and will include line management responsibility of up to 2 FTE members of staff. The role reports into the chief lawyer.

Previous UK local government experience is an essential requirement.

To apply you will be:

  • An England and Wales qualified solicitor, barrister or chartered legal executive
  • Able to demonstrate previous experience handling a caseload of planning matters in a local government environment
  • Able to advise and represent the council at tribunal, if required, and be able to deputise in the absence of the chief lawyer
  • Able to line manage two junior members of staff
  • Able to attend the office in North London on a hybrid basis of 2-3 days per week

The salary for this role is £59,739 per annum.
