We are looking for an experienced Head of Operations & Scenic to join our Senior Leadership team. This senior, hands‑on leadership role is responsible for the operational delivery of all Lavender Green events, from dispatch and installation through to collection, while leading our scenic and workshop functions.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee all event logistics: packing, transport, delivery, installation and collection.
- Ensure timely departure from the workshop and smooth execution on site.
- Lead install teams on key or complex builds.
- Act as escalation point during live events.
- Run post‑event debriefs and drive continuous improvement.
- Oversee and contribute to the construction of high‑quality scenic and structural builds.
- Work closely with design and project teams to translate creative ideas into deliverable plans.
- Maintain a clean, organised and safe workshop.
- Support and develop junior scenic and crew members.
- Work with Logistics and Warehouse Manager to allocate crew effectively across events, produce weekly schedules and ensure RAMS, security documentation and venue requirements are submitted on time.
- Allocate crew, vehicles, tools and equipment and ensure they are booked and prepared.
- Lead, mentor and develop crew, warehouse team and freelance crew.
- Drive accountability, collaboration and high standards.
- Conduct performance reviews and support development planning.
- Build a culture of ownership, professionalism and care.
- Oversee vehicle checks, servicing, repairs and van hire.
- Ensure hardware (vases, plinths, equipment) props, tools and company assets are respected and maintained, monitor breakages and minimise avoidable loss.
- Monitor operational costs across logistics, staffing and transport, identify efficiencies in routing, staffing and build processes, support cost control without compromising quality.
- Maintain relationships with key vendors, suppliers and contractors.
- Coordinate with the Sales and Event Coordination teams to ensure client expectations are met in terms of service delivery and event success.
- Report issues and work to address them with the team.
- Ensure H&S compliance across warehouse and on‑site environments.
- Lead a proactive safety culture, oversee RAMS processes and venue compliance.
What We Are Looking For
- 2+ years’ experience in scenic carpentry or event build within events, theatre, immersive or live environments.
- Strong construction skills with an eye for detail and finish.
- Experience leading teams on‑site and under pressure.
- Organised, structured, and solutions‑focused.
- Physically capable of hands‑on build and install work.
- Confident driving 3.5t vehicles.
- Full clean UK driving licence.
