As a Head of Project Controls you will lead the development and implementation of program and project controls across Westinghouse Environmental Services UK, by supporting and driving best practices. Responsible for ensuring compliance with standards and enhancing overall program success. Collaborating with key stakeholders, manage a team of project professionals to ensure effective delivery of scope, schedule, cost, risk, and dependencies. Working closely with senior leaders, the role will contribute to the efficient establishment and delivery of all programmes across Westinghouse Environmental Services UK. You will report to the Senior Programme Manager and be located at Westlakes.
Key Responsibilities
- Provision of resources to support bids and ensuring schedules and risk registers developed at bid phase comply with our standards and expectation.
- Advise and drive implementation of robust project controls and processes across WES UK.
- Lead the provision of Risk Management and Assessment services to Project Delivery teams ensuring risk is built into project programmes.
- Lead Planning improvements ensuring all project plans are robust and cost and resource loaded.
- Review and optimise project controls management procedures and templates.
- Develop, implement and maintain data driven programme reporting at Portfolio, Programme and Project Level.
- Support the forecasting of future potential savings ('hard benefits') and efficiencies based on the delivery / contract baseline programmes.
- Implement effective change control and contract management processes to ensure compliance and flexibility.
- Establish robust control processes to track progress, risks, dependencies, milestones, and quality, utilising automated software for real-time dashboards and data analytics.
- Manage project databases and tracking tools, promoting automation to enhance reporting accuracy and efficiency.
- Ensure that schedules are compiled and submitted to the required management standards and that monthly reporting is undertaken in compliance with the contract.
- Create professional presentations and dashboards to communicate project status to stakeholders.
- Maintain contact with the wider Project Controls professional bodies, keeping abreast of the latest initiatives and technology.
- Lead on development and maintenance of live project master list.
- Develop and implement tools for trending and recording project intelligence, for continuous learning to improve forecast accuracy.
- Set standards, through liaison with business functions, to ensure compliance with existing policies and practices and meet expectations of the stakeholders.
- Collaborate with the Quality Manager to establish quality assurance processes for seamless project handover to operations.
- Manage self-audits and quality programmes, ensuring alignment to quality standards and processes.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 10 or more years of applicable leading Project Delivery and Project Control; 10 years minimum.
- Excellent stakeholder management with colleagues across different levels of the organisation and across trades.
- Analyse data and present valuable indicators of Project Health Performance.
- Strong Written and Verbal Communication.
- Facilitate meetings to maintain progress and achieve the agreed outcome.
- Organising and presenting data in a clear meaningful way.
- Support project delivery by understanding the data presented and possessing the ability to ask the right questions.
- Apply empathy and understanding when required.
