As a Category Specialist you will be responsible and accountable for supporting the Category Manager within Direct Sourcing and Category Management. A key success factor is the ability to effectively support and contribute to the execution of category visions. The role supports sourcing strategies and their implementation for defined categories, ensuring alignment with Westinghouse business objectives. You will report to the Category Manager - Enterprise Category Management - Direct.
Responsibilities
- Act as the primary interface for European sites on behalf of the Category Manager, collaborating with cross-functional stakeholders and peer Category Specialists to gather regional requirements and support the development of global category strategies.
- Conduct business and spend analysis using Power BI and other analytical tools; provide insights into historical spend drivers and assess potential impacts on future spend projections.
- Track and report performance against key metrics such as payment terms, on-time delivery, productivity, inflation, price variance, commodity fluctuations, and other critical procurement KPIs for Procurement Leadership.
- Support Category Managers (CM) in development of program presentations including supplier relationship management, transformation progress, QBRs, Deep Dives, weekly High/Low lights reviews, and preferred supplier analysis.
- Daily support across Category Management team solving business issues and analysis.
- Assist Category Managers with competitive sourcing activities, including RFI, RFP, and RFQ preparation, evaluation of results, documentation of recommendations, and communication with internal stakeholders and suppliers.
- Research, track and communicate industry trends, best practices, applicable indices, and competitive offerings to identify opportunities for innovation, competitive advantage, and increased productivity.
- Track receipts and payment price of certain commodities to ensure critical supplier invoices are paid on time.
- Develop a productive working relationship with peers on other teams: Engineering, Operations, Quality, and Procurement.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree
- 8+ years of experience – Services related supply chain experience preferred vs. other areas of supply chain
- Experience with Staff Augmentation and Engineering Services
- Knowledge of contractual terms and conditions
- Skilled in making informed decisions, resolving complex challenges, and leading projects to successful outcomes
- Organized, detail‑driven, and experienced at prioritizing tasks in deadline‑driven environments
- Ability to manage stress and maintain professional composure, while completing multiple requests and projects simultaneously
- Able to analyze complex datasets and identify patterns, trends, and opportunities
- Understanding of SAP/Ariba, ERP Systems and Cost Savings Tracking Systems (Wave)
