We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Management Accountant to join our finance team. The successful candidate will play a vital role in managing financial reporting, analysing financial data, and supporting strategic decision-making processes. This position offers an excellent opportunity for professionals with a strong background in financial management and accounting software to contribute to organisational growth and efficiency. Responsibilities and activities include:
- Member of the UK management accounting team, covering management accounting, forecasting and business partnering support, across all areas of the financial statements including Fixed Assets, Stock, Revenue and Cost reporting.
- Provide key support to the Management Accountant team and UK Financial Controller.
- Ensure month and year end management accounting tasks are completed accurately and on a timely basis.
- Support on Intercompany Cross Charges, reconciliation and optimising processes.
- Provide cover for other team members.
Month and year end responsibilities:
- Take ownership of P&L and balance sheet areas, working with the business on driving performance improvement actions, and implementing or maintaining associated controls.
- Support Supply Finance Manager on inventory accounting and Operation P&L lines reporting.
- Work on the month end process, ensuring that all deadlines are met, that accurate accruals, prepayments and other financial entries are complete.
- Prepare variance reporting and analysis for month-end review and understand drivers behind differences.
- Complete thorough and robust balance sheet reconciliations monthly. Prepare monthly balance sheet reporting.
- Review and approve payments and bank reconciliation, including cash forecasting.
- Prepare year end management accounts in SAP and assist with the preparation of the statutory financial statements and disclosures. Ensure any year-end adjustments are correctly posted and communicated as required. Provide data for the preparation of the corporation tax computation and statutory disclosures.
- Work on the monthly intercompany process, helping to prepare monthly intercompany reconciliations, posting and raising intercompany invoices and arranging intercompany payments.
- When required, assist with the preparation of the monthly VAT return, EC sales list and Intrastat submissions.
- Work on the interim and year end audit processes, which may include providing timely, accurate and concise lead schedules and responses to audit queries.
Business Partnering responsibilities:
- Work with the Management Accountant to prepare accurate, concise and user-friendly month end packs, including relevant and insightful variance reporting to budget and forecast for P&L and balance sheet.
- Create concise, user-friendly cost centre reviews and discuss these with cost centre managers to monitor and control costs. The role holder should use their knowledge and experience to challenge costs and highlight potential future issues, driving up profitability.
- Utilise knowledge of the business to prepare detailed and accurate budgets and forecasts to support business decision making.
- Work with colleagues in finance and the wider business to ensure accuracy and efficiency in all that you do.
- Ad hoc variance reporting should also be prepared as required.
Ad Hoc Accounting tasks:
- Other ad hoc and regular tasks / reporting as required by the Management Accountant/ Financial Controller/ FD/ HQ.
Qualifications and experience needed include:
- Fully or partly CCAB qualified (e.g. ACA, ACCA, CIMA).
- Experience working within an accounting / finance environment - ESSENTIAL.
- Excellent Microsoft Excel skills (Excellent formula knowledge).
- Experience of SAP computer software (ESSENTIAL).
- Excellent attention-to-detail.
- Excellent time management skills.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Strong numeracy and analytical skills with an inquisitive nature.
- Critical eye for reporting and sense checking accuracy.
The successful candidate will be required to work on site in Basingstoke; the company does have a Hybrid policy however this does not come into effect until after 6 months. A DBS check will be required to be completed and satisfied. We do not provide sponsorship for this role so full right to work is required.
