Background to the Role
E-Coffee Solutions (ECS), currently comprising Lavazza Professional (UK, France and Germany) and Maxi Coffee in France, is the newly created Office Coffee Service (OCS) and Vending division of the Lavazza Group. ECS has strategic ambition to grow both organically and through strategic acquisition to be the market leader in the OCS/Vending channel in Europe in the next 5 years, combining a physical operating network with e-commerce capabilities to create an omnichannel business, expanding a profitable model in the big 5 European markets.
Key Accountabilities include:
- Develop design changes to current products through the business change processes, making decisions on next steps, and ensuring all key stakeholders are kept up to date on project progress. Projects managed will include but not be limited to mechanical changes, supply continuity, change of supplier and VGP.
- Proactively work with internal and external customers to resolve and manage design related technical issues raised during product introductions or escalated through quality management systems in business, manufacturing and market units.
- Ensure cross functional team members are aware and aligned on project deliverables, individual outputs and deadlines.
- Plan design solution work, coordinating team members and their outputs to ensure work is delivered in line with key project expectations and milestones.
- Act as the technical lead on projects defining specifications requirements from stakeholder input and creating mechanical system design concepts that meet these requirements.
- Present and communicate to project manager and department manager, suppliers and manufacturers project plans, proposals, and outcomes.
- Create, develop, and modify equipment specifications ensuring they adhere to all legal and customer safety requirements using best practice design methodologies.
- Define and conduct design verification on product designs using in house laboratory and prototyping facilities in line with laboratory standards and scientific best practice.
- Build and maintain product assemblies and Bill of Materials within CAD/PDM systems to support new and current product developments.
- Organise production trials with the internal production teams/external manufacturers and interact with the technical functions to plan validation testing for product developments.
- Use business processes engineering change process.
- Escalate opportunities for product innovation identified during delivery of principal accountabilities and ensure that any intellectual property (IP) is captured through IP management framework.
Skills required include:
- Honours Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering or product design subject.
- Experience in technical development of products.
- Experience in design change coordination/management.
- Appreciation of hardware, software & mechanical disciplines specifically related to the control of mechatronic systems.
- Curiosity for investigating and learning about new technologies and ideas.
- Good knowledge of Microsoft Office Applications (Power Point, Excel, Word, Project).
- Fluency in CAD applications (Creo/SolidWorks Preferred).
- Knowledge of Product Data Management (Windchill/PDM) applications.
- Manufacturing process knowledge (Sheet metal, Plastic Injection moulding preferred).
- Able to define a problem and communicate it to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Appreciation of commercial and other non-technical considerations.
- The ability to manage and set priorities.
- Excellent stakeholder management.
