Role: Lab Manager Salary: £40,000 – £50,000 Location: North West, office based As the Laboratory Manager, you will oversee all laboratory functions, including formulation development, product testing, regulatory compliance, and process optimization. You will manage a team of skilled lab technicians and chemists, collaborating closely with cross-functional teams such as Product Development, Quality Assurance, and Manufacturing. . Key Responsibilities: Lab Operations Management: Oversee day-to-day operations of the R&D and QC laboratories, ensuring adherence to safety protocols, quality standards, and efficient workflows. Team Leadership: Recruit, train, and mentor lab personnel, fostering a culture of innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement. Product Formulation & Development: Lead the formulation, testing, and optimization of new personal care products, including skincare, haircare, and cosmetics, aligned with market trends and consumer demands. Quality Control: Ensure consistent product quality by establishing and maintaining rigorous QC testing protocols; troubleshoot and resolve formulation or stability issues as needed. Compliance & Documentation: Maintain thorough and accurate records of lab activities, product specifications, and batch testing, ensuring compliance with FDA, GMP, and ISO standards. Process Improvement: Continuously identify and implement improvements in lab operations, equipment, and testing methods to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and cost-effectiveness. Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with Product Development, Regulatory, Marketing, and Manufacturing teams to support new product launches and address any technical or quality-related challenges. Qualifications: Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related field. Advanced degree or industry certification is a plus. Experience: Minimum of 4+ years of experience in a laboratory management role within the personal care, cosmetics, or related industry. Technical Skills: Strong knowledge of formulation science, raw materials, and analytical techniques for personal care products. Proficiency with laboratory instruments and software Leadership Abilities: Proven experience managing and mentoring lab teams, with excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to motivate others. Regulatory Knowledge: Familiarity with industry regulations and standards Problem-Solving Skills: Strong analytical and troubleshooting abilities, with a results-oriented approach to addressing technical challenges. Communication Skills: Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
