We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Teacher of History to join our successful Humanities department. The successful candidate will teach across Key Stages 3 and 4, delivering engaging lessons that help students understand history around them and develop history skills. Whether you’re an Early Career Teacher or an experienced Teacher, we welcome individuals who are committed to delivering high-quality, engaging History lessons that foster curiosity and academic success.
Defining what constitutes ‘powerful knowledge’ in history can be challenging, as there is often debate about the relative value of different topics or periods. However, there is broad agreement on several core principles: children have a right to understand the world in which they live, to learn about people in the past and the actions they took, and to recognise how those actions continue to shape life today. They also have a right to explore the stories humans tell, and to understand how societies are structured and divided by factors such as wealth, class, gender and race. The academic discipline of history provides the means to make sense of this complexity, and the powerful knowledge history curriculum at the Laurus Trust is designed to induct students into this rich and rigorous discipline.
