ABOUT LAUNCHPAD

Based in central Reading, Launchpad provides vital information and support for vulnerable individuals, couples and families in Reading who do not have a stable place to live or are at risk of losing their home. Founded as a soup kitchen in 1979 by students at the University of Reading, the charity now provides a holistic service that works in three ways – we prevent homelessness, provide homes and rebuild lives.

THE ROLE

Launchpad provides supported housing for six to twelve months. During this time your client works through a personalized support plan so you will need an innovative and dynamic approach to support and a passion for positive outcomes. As a Supported Housing Officer you will work with clients with complex needs with a view to assisting them to gain independent living skills that enable them to sustain a tenancy and move forward with their lives. You will manage a case load of clients taking a person-centred approach, supporting them to work towards independence, whilst you also work collaboratively with partner agencies to reach positive outcomes. You will also provide resettlement support for your case load when clients move on into independent living.

We are looking for a candidate who is:

  • Professional, approachable, confident and empathetic whilst maintaining appropriate boundaries
  • Able to manage own caseload of clients and produce support plans and risk assessments
  • Resilient to deal with challenging people and maintain motivation levels
  • Experienced in working with vulnerable people
  • Experience in support and housing (desirable)
  • Knowledgeable about basic IT software (Word, Excel and Outlook)

The closing date for applications is Tuesday 24th September. Interviews will be taking place after the closing date. Whilst appointments will always be made on the merits of the application and performance in the selection process, Launchpad is committed to achieving greater diversity, inclusion and equity in our workforce – and actively encourages and welcomes applications regardless of sex, gender, race, age, sexuality, beliefs or disability.
