Midweight Designer
We’re looking for a talented Midweight Designer to join our studio!
This is a fantastic opportunity to get involved in all aspects of the creative design process, take ownership of projects and contribute to a collaborative team.
Location: Full-time (37.5 hours per week)
Contract: Permanent
Location: Hybrid, inc. 3 days per week at our studio on London Road, St Albans, Hertfordshire, AL1 1NG

Launch Studio is a brand and design agency based in St Albans, Hertfordshire.
We work with our clients to understand their priorities, applying our design, branding and strategic expertise to move their business forward, through long-term relationships that sit naturally alongside their internal teams.
Our work spans everything from branding and websites to sales decks, social content, campaigns and day-to-day design support.

Salary band £32–36k based on experience

What you’ll be doing
These goals and responsibilities encompass both the creative aspects of graphic design as well as the organisational and collaborative aspects necessary for success in a midweight position.
Developing ideas and producing design work
Get to grips with the brief and consider who the work is for. Bring your own ideas and question things constructively where needed. Use design best practice and your judgement to refine your work, with a clear reason behind the direction you recommend. Check everything before sharing it, making sure the design fundamentals are consistently right.
Managing your projects from start to finish
Take responsibility for your work and how it turns out. Plan your time to meet deadlines, allowing for personal checks and feedback. Fit smaller ad hoc tasks around your main projects and keep things on track without frequent check-ins. When problems come up, think through possible solutions and involve the team when you need support.
Keeping the team informed
Give updates without waiting to be asked and flag risks or delays early. Contribute confidently in meetings and explain your design decisions clearly. Follow studio processes so people have the information they need and know what’s happening with your projects.
Working within project budgets and timings
Understand how much time is available and use it well. Balance your ideas with what’s practical to deliver, maintaining quality within the agreed scope and budget. Keep track of deadlines and complete project admin accurately.
Supporting the people around you
Share what you know and offer useful feedback, including helping junior designers with their work. Work across teams when needed and offer a hand on other projects. Set a good example by being reliable and bringing a positive attitude to the studio. Take an interest in the team’s work as well as your own.
What you’ll bring
We work across a wide mix of design disciplines, from brand identity and web design, to content and campaign creative. As a midweight designer, you’ll be expected to bring relevant experience and judgement to the role, including:
At least two years’ experience, with strong, up-to-date design knowledge and expertise
A portfolio of published or live work spanning print, digital, branding and websites
Confidence using Adobe Creative Cloud and Figma
Technical proficiency with design software and hardware
Knowledge of website-building platforms such as WordPress, Squarespace and Shopify
Attention to detail, especially in spelling, grammar and layout
Strong written, verbal and visual communication skills
Experience managing your own workload and meeting deadlines without frequent check-ins
Confidence talking through your work with colleagues and clients
Willingness to take feedback on board and help others with their work
