Launch Education are working in partnership with a successful and ambitious 11-16 secondary school in the Luton area to recruit an enthusiastic and high-quality Teacher of English on a permanent basis. This is an excellent opportunity to join a well-established, forward-thinking English department within a school that has undergone significant improvement in recent years and is supported by a strong and experienced leadership team.

The successful candidate will join an energetic and ambitious department with high expectations for both teaching and learning. We are looking for an English teacher who has a genuine enthusiasm for their subject, strong subject knowledge and a commitment to delivering engaging and effective lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4.

The school places a real emphasis on staff development, offering high-quality CPD, a comprehensive induction programme and clear opportunities for career progression. Teachers are encouraged to develop professionally, share best practice and take the next steps in their careers.

The school has made substantial progress in recent years, with its most recent Ofsted inspection recognising strengths across areas including leadership, safeguarding, pastoral care, personal development and the school's inclusive culture. Students benefit from a supportive environment where they are encouraged to be ambitious, while staff benefit from a collaborative culture and strong professional development.

The school can offer:

  • A permanent position from January 2027, or sooner if available
  • A well-established and supportive English department
  • Strong and experienced school leadership
  • Excellent, personalised CPD and professional development
  • Clear career progression pathways and opportunities for internal promotion
  • A comprehensive induction programme for new staff
  • Modern, purpose-built facilities
  • A collaborative culture with opportunities to share best practice
  • A genuine commitment to staff wellbeing and work-life balance
  • Strong pastoral systems and positive relationships between staff and students
  • Excellent road and public transport links, including convenient access to London

We would be keen to speak with teachers who are passionate about English and committed to helping young people achieve their potential. You will be someone who brings enthusiasm to the classroom, has high expectations of students and wants to contribute positively to an already established department. ECTs are also encouraged to apply, with a full programme of support and professional development available.

If you are considering your next move for January and would like to hear more about this opportunity, apply today or get in touch for a confidential conversation.
