Launch Education are working with a highly regarded specialist secondary school in West London, supporting young people aged 11–19 with Autism, severe learning difficulties, profound and complex needs, and associated health and physical needs. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced SEND teacher, or a primary-trained teacher looking to develop their career within a specialist secondary setting.

The school takes a highly personalised approach to education, with teaching built around the individual needs, abilities and aspirations of each pupil. Although secondary-aged, the school operates with a primary-style whole-class teaching model. You will take responsibility for a consistent class, allowing you to:

• Build strong, meaningful relationships with pupils
• Know your learners exceptionally well
• Deliver a broad and personalised curriculum
• Develop academic, communication and life skills
• Support pupils towards greater independence
• Work closely with Teaching Assistants, therapists, families and other professionals

Depending on experience, you may work within Autism/ASC or PMLD provision, supporting pupils with complex learning and communication needs.

Experience with Makaton, PODD, AAC or other alternative communication approaches would be advantageous.

A full day of PPA each week, supportive and collegiate staff team, opportunity to work within specialist ASC and PMLD provision, a genuinely personalised approach to teaching, and the opportunity to make a significant difference to pupils' long-term development are on offer. This is not a traditional secondary teaching role. It would particularly suit a teacher who enjoys building deep relationships with their class and wants the opportunity to look beyond individual lessons and support pupils' academic, social, communication and personal development over time.
