Borkowski is an iconic, independent communications agency offering Consumer PR, Corporate PR, Arts. You’ll also be navigating complex reputational issues whilst building and protecting the legacies of illustrious leaders and iconic brands; current and recent clients include one of the great British fashion icons, a giant of independent publishing, an entrepreneur-turned-philanthropist, an eco-pioneer, a party in the UK’s highest profile ongoing civil case, one of the UK’s biggest entertainment businesses, an inventor rebelling against the tech giants, a global music industry maverick and a rock legend to name just a few.
As Senior Account Director working across the agency but principally for Borkowski’s industry-leading corporate and crisis communications team, you’ll steer strategy, be a calm centre of gravity in complex reputational issues, whilst protecting the legacies of illustrious leaders and iconic brands spanning fashion, publishing, entertainment and more.
Key responsibilities:
- Senior Leader on major accounts: ensure that every aspect of a project or retained account runs smoothly, and to the client’s satisfaction, as well as hitting deadlines and meeting internal quality benchmarks.
- Media Relations Lead – Sell-in stories to senior media contacts and ensure that any major media enquiries are handled effectively.
- Client Strategic Lead: Take a leading role in the production of strategy and discovery work, ensuring that the scope is delivered to the highest standards.
- Drive business development through confident network building and producing materials (e.g. case studies) that aid business development.
- Secure new clients by producing and contributing to proposals, pitches and RFIs for potential new clients.
- Line manage a team of 2-3, ensuring high standards of performance and motivation, that all training and upskilling requirements are met, and that they hit consistent career development milestones.
About you
The ideal candidate:
- Has proven agency or senior in-house experience leading major PR accounts at SAD level across corporate and reputation mandates, including live issues and crisis support.
- Is a confident client lead who builds positive relationships with senior decision‑makers.
- Has strong senior media relationships and sharp editorial judgement, ideally including business and tech press.
- Is highly organised with the ability to resource teams, manage scopes and budgets, and deliver at pace without compromising quality.
- Is commercially minded, spotting opportunities to grow existing accounts, drive new business and persuasively summarise the offering.
- Is a motivated, diplomatic leader who handles forceful personalities with grace and gravitas.
- Picks up the phone, seizes opportunities, and tackles challenges head‑on.
- Has strong leadership skills, the ability to organise and motivate junior colleagues and drive development across the agency.
