As the in-house PR Lead, you will take ownership of developing and executing multi-channel PR campaigns that spark national conversation and drive real behavioural change.

Location: London (Hybrid)

Salary: £55,000

About Material Focus:

Material Focus collaborates across the sector, producing thought leadership, research and innovation funding to catalyse the development of a thriving circular electricals system. Recycle Your Electricals, the primary consumer-facing campaign, is a nationwide initiative designed to shift public behaviour towards e-waste by inspiring, educating and encouraging everyone across the UK to act. From funding community drop-off points to executing major national cultural activations, they make recycling small electricals both mentally and physically easier for millions of people.

  • A progressive hiring policy that actively welcomes diverse perspectives.
  • Join a highly inclusive, mission-driven culture where personal growth and work-life balance are actively encouraged.

About the job:

Responsibilities include:

  • Deliver high-impact PR plans on time and within budget, securing consistent, high-quality placements across national print, broadcast, and online media. The goal is to drive campaigns that lead to behavioural change.
  • Inspire, educate and encourage the public to reuse and recycle electricals through the Recycle Your Electricals campaign.
  • Write, edit, and oversee the creation of media releases, thought leadership articles, case studies, and blogs optimised for search engines.
  • Forge and maintain close bonds with national newsrooms, environmental journalists, and digital influencers to amplify campaign messages.
  • Monitor, analyse, and evaluate your PR results.

About you:

The organisation is looking for an experienced, proactive, creative and highly organised PR Lead who pairs an analytical mind with a genuine passion for sustainability.

  • You possess 4 to 5 years of professional PR experience gained either within a fast-paced agency or an in-house corporate communications team, ideally within sustainability.
  • You have an exceptional eye for a news hook and a proven track record of translating complex behavioural data into simple, headline-grabbing narratives.
  • You understand how social media directly integrates with traditional media relations to drive cohesive, integrated campaigns.
