- Introduction
We are looking for an organised and proactive Production Planner to join a busy and growing manufacturing company based in Poole, Dorset.
The role will involve developing and maintaining demand, capacity, production and material plans, ensuring resources and materials are available when required.
You will also provide early visibility of risks, constraints and priorities across the business so it will be a key role in ensuring customer requirements are met safely, efficiently and on time.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain accurate demand, production and material plans based on customer orders, forecasts, inventory and business requirements.
- Assess capacity across labour, machinery, skills and shifts, identifying bottlenecks and recommending solutions.
- Create and maintain realistic production schedules, balancing customer priorities, capacity, materials, efficiency and lead times.
- Monitor progress against plan and adjust schedules in response to changes or operational issues.
- Communicate priorities, shortages, constraints and risks through daily and weekly planning meetings.
- Work closely with Production, Sales, Customer Service, Engineering, Quality, Procurement, Warehouse and Logistics to resolve planning issues.
- Calculate material requirements and monitor shortages, supplier delays and stock levels.
- Support inventory control and help minimise excess stock and avoidable costs.
- Maintain accurate planning data, works orders and records within the ERP/MRP system.
- Produce planning reports, schedules, shortage lists and capacity information.
- Identify potential risks and constraints early and communicate these to relevant stakeholders.
- Ideal Skills & Experience
- Experienced in planning, production planning, materials planning or supply chain.
- Highly organised with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Confident using ERP/MRP systems and working with data.
- Commercially aware, with a good understanding of customer demand, capacity, materials and inventory.
- An excellent communicator who can work effectively across multiple departments.
- Proactive, adaptable and comfortable managing changing priorities.
- Ideally experienced within a manufacturing or production environment.
Above all, you will be a forward-thinking and practical Production Planner who can balance customer requirements with operational capability and ensure plans are realistic and achievable.
Hours: Days - Monday to Friday Days - Option for working 7.00am – 3.30pm or 8.00am to 4.30pm.
