Our engineering & manufacturing clients based close to Havant have an exciting opportunity for a CAD Engineer to join their growing engineering team.

The successful candidate will have strong technical drafting and construction detailing experience, with a good understanding of building materials, construction methods and the interfaces between building structures and installed products.

  • 2D CAD & Project Design
  • Produce high-quality 2D technical and construction drawings using Auto CAD, including plans, sections, elevations, details and schematic drawings.
  • Review and interpret architectural, construction and engineering drawings supplied by clients.
  • Interpret survey information and incorporate relevant site conditions into project drawings.
  • Understand building construction, materials and construction methods.
  • Modify existing drawings and designs as required.
  • Prepare drawing registers, schedules and associated technical documentation.
  • Carry out quality checks on completed drawings to identify errors or discrepancies.
  • Liaise with Project Managers, architects, engineers, designers and other relevant parties to understand and resolve design requirements.
  • Work closely with the wider Design and Engineering team to ensure drawings are completed accurately and within project deadlines.
  • 3D CAD & Manufacturing Design
  • Where required, support the Engineering and Manufacturing functions by:
  • Producing 3D CAD models and assemblies, preferably using Solid Works.
  • Producing detailed manufacturing and fabrication drawings.
  • Developing and modifying components and assemblies with consideration for manufacturing methods, materials, tolerances and assembly.
  • Preparing and maintaining Bills of Materials (BOMs) and technical documentation.
  • Working with Manufacturing to ensure designs are practical and suitable for production.
  • Supporting the investigation and resolution of technical or manufacturing issues.

Required skills & experience

  • Experience using Auto CAD to produce accurate 2D technical/construction drawings.
  • Proven experience producing detailed plans, sections and construction/interface drawings.
  • Ability to read and interpret architectural, construction and engineering drawings.
  • Good knowledge of building materials, construction methods and building structures.
  • Ability to understand and detail the interface between a product and the surrounding building structure.
  • Strong technical drafting and detailing skills.
  • Working hours Monday – Thursday 8:00am – 4:30pm
