An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Maintenance Engineer to join a busy manufacturing facility in Fareham. Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, you will be responsible for maintaining production equipment, maximising uptime, and supporting operational performance through a combination of planned and reactive maintenance activities. This is a hands-on role requiring strong electrical and mechanical fault-finding skills, a proactive approach to problem-solving, and a commitment to health, safety, and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out planned preventative maintenance to maximise equipment reliability and minimise downtime.
- Respond to breakdowns, diagnose faults, and complete repairs safely and efficiently.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records using the CMMS system.
- Support continuous improvement activities to enhance equipment performance and OEE.
- Assist with machine setup, commissioning, changeovers, and production support activities.
- Ensure all work is completed in line with health, safety, environmental, and quality procedures.
- Support the development of maintenance procedures, SOPs, and risk assessments.
- Monitor spare parts usage and help maintain appropriate stock levels.
- Maintain high standards of housekeeping and workshop organisation.
- Work collaboratively with production, engineering, and planning teams to support operational objectives.
Ideal Experience & Skills
- NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in an Engineering discipline.
- Minimum 5 years experience in a maintenance engineering role within a manufacturing environment.
- Strong electrical and mechanical maintenance and fault-finding experience.
- Experience maintaining production machinery and equipment.
- Knowledge of preventative maintenance systems and CMMS software.
- Good understanding of health and safety requirements, including risk assessments and COSHH.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently.
Desirable
- Forklift, IPAF, or PASMA certification.
- Experience within a regulated manufacturing environment.
- Knowledge of continuous improvement methodologies and equipment reliability practices.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
Salary: £45,860 - £47,860 (Including Shift Allowance)
