We are seeking an experienced Quality Manager to join a well-established precision engineering and manufacturing business, near Christchurch, serving highly regulated industries, including aerospace and other advanced engineering sectors. This is a full-time, site-based position responsible for leading and developing the Quality Management System (QMS), ensuring compliance with customer, industry, and regulatory requirements while driving a culture of continuous improvement throughout the organisation. The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining quality standards, supporting operational excellence, and ensuring the business remains audit-ready at all times.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and maintain the company’s Quality Management System (QMS).
  • Ensure ongoing compliance with industry standards, customer requirements, and regulatory obligations.
  • Lead internal audits and coordinate external audits, accreditation assessments, and customer quality reviews.
  • Manage corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) and drive effective root cause analysis.
  • Monitor, analyse, and report on quality performance metrics and KPIs.
  • Work closely with production, engineering, and supply chain teams to identify improvement opportunities and implement corrective actions.
  • Support new product introduction activities from a quality perspective.
  • Provide guidance, coaching, and training on quality standards, procedures, and best practices.
  • Liaise directly with customers, suppliers, and regulatory bodies on quality-related matters.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product quality, process efficiency, and customer satisfaction.

Ideal Experience & Skills

  • Proven experience in a Quality Manager or senior quality leadership role within aerospace, precision engineering, manufacturing, or another highly regulated industry.
  • Strong working knowledge of Quality Management Systems and quality standards, with experience maintaining and improving compliant systems.
  • Experience with ISO 9001 is essential; aerospace standards such as AS9100 / EN9100 and NADCAP would be highly advantageous.
  • Previous aerospace manufacturing experience is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of quality tools and methodologies including Root Cause Analysis, CAPA, FMEA, Control Plans, and Statistical Process Control (SPC).
  • Experience planning, conducting, and supporting internal, supplier, customer, and third-party audits.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documentation.
  • Technical manufacturing experience or exposure to any of the following processes would be advantageous:
    • Welding
    • CNC Machining
    • Heat Treatment
    • Sheet Metal Fabrication
    • Paint / Surface Finishing Processes
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence cross-functional teams.
  • Demonstrable experience delivering continuous improvement initiatives and driving operational excellence.
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Proficiency with quality management software and Microsoft Office applications.

Salary: £60K - £65K
