Our clients based close to Fareham are actively seeking a Category Buyer to join their growing Supply Chain team.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Assist in developing procurement strategies for specific product categories.
- Support preparation and implementation of category plans.
- Conduct market analysis to identify potential suppliers and evaluate supplier capabilities to support procurement decisions.
- Monitor commodity pricing trends and adapt procurement strategy.
- Prepare documentation for contract discussions and meetings to drive continuous cost down.
- Assist in/own contract negotiation, maintaining supplier agreements, and ensuring contractual compliance.
- Manage supplier relationships by tracking supplier performance and driving the resolution of supplier related issues.
- Meet with suppliers to review corrective action plans.
- Collaborate with internal teams such as sales, marketing, operations, and finance to gather business requirements and support aligned procurement activities.
- Perform procurement data analysis to identify cost saving opportunities and implement them.
- Develop a procurement plan based on historical procurement data.
- Ensure procurement activities adhere to company policies, regulatory requirements, and ethical standards, assisting in mitigating supply chain risks.
- Support senior colleagues in auditing supplier compliance documentation.
- Identify potential compliance concerns and escalate appropriately.
- Participate in training sessions to stay updated on compliance regulations and procurement best practices.
Skills & Experience:
- Experience in a procurement or supply chain role within an electromechanical manufacturing environment.
- Negotiation and Supplier Management.
