At Latham International, we're looking for an enthusiastic and organised Internal Sales Engineer to join our busy Spares & Service Department at our Newcastle-under-Lyme headquarters.

From complete filter press installations and commissioning to laboratory testing, spare parts, servicing and refurbishment, we provide a comprehensive service to customers across the UK and internationally.

THE ROLE
Job Title: Internal Sales Engineer
Department: Spares & Service
Location: Newcastle-under-Lyme, Staffordshire
Working Pattern: Office-based, with occasional site visits
Employment Type: Full-time
Reports To: Lee Yoxall – Spares & Service Manager
WHAT WILL YOU BE DOING?
This is a varied, hands‑on commercial and engineering role where you'll play an important part in keeping our customers happy and our operations running smoothly.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Building and maintaining relationships with existing customers and suppliers.
- Responding to customer enquiries, technical queries and spare parts requests.
- Identifying and developing new business opportunities and customers.
- Preparing accurate, detailed and competitive quotations.
- Following up quotations and converting opportunities into orders.
- Sourcing and purchasing materials for spare parts orders, new‑build filter presses and refurbishment projects.
- Processing customer orders and coordinating deliveries.
- Managing stock levels and assisting with regular stocktakes.
- Picking, packing and dispatching spare parts and equipment.
- Coordinating site work alongside our Site Engineers and Management Team.
- Liaising with suppliers to ensure materials and components are sourced efficiently.
- Supporting the wider team with day‑to‑day activities and other duties as required.
In short, you'll be involved in a bit of everything – from customer conversations and engineering enquiries to purchasing, quotations and getting parts out of the door!
WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR?
We're not just looking for qualifications; we're looking for the right person with the right attitude.
Someone who is organised, proactive, confident communicating with customers and enjoys being part of a small, close‑knit team.
- GCSEs and A-Levels, or BTEC Level 3 (Engineering-based) or equivalent.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Good organisational and time‑management abilities.
- A practical, problem‑solving approach.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Previous engineering or technical industry experience.
- HNC, HND or Degree in an engineering‑related subject.
- Experience in technical sales, procurement or spare parts.
- An understanding of mechanical equipment or industrial processes.
Most importantly, you'll need enthusiasm, initiative and a willingness to learn.

WORKING ARRANGEMENTS
The position is primarily office‑based at our Newcastle-under-Lyme premises, with occasional site visits as required.
Standard working hours apply. A company car or van will be made available as required for authorised site visits.
