Latham and Bond Recruitment Group are currently working with a Coventry-based manufacturing organisation to appoint a Production Engineer. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a forward-thinking engineering team at a business heavily involved in high-volume automotive component manufacturing. You will be instrumental in driving improvements across CNC machining processes, supporting both new product introduction and continuous improvement across the shop floor.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Analyse and optimise CNC machining processes to improve efficiency, reduce cycle times, and eliminate waste.
  • Design and improve machining fixtures and tooling in collaboration with internal teams.
  • Support New Product Introduction (NPI), including process planning, tooling procurement, and sample production.
  • Troubleshoot machining issues, apply root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions.
  • Collaborate with the Quality team to ensure robust quality control measures are in place, including in-process checks and SPC.
  • Maintain up-to-date process documentation including work instructions and setup sheets.
  • Lead and contribute to Lean manufacturing initiatives (e.g., 5S, Kaizen, SMED).
  • Assist in specifying and procuring new CNC machines and automation equipment.
  • Provide operator training on new processes, standards, and equipment.
  • Promote and adhere to Health & Safety policies in all areas of production.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Deep knowledge of CNC machining (milling of cast components preferred).
  • Proficiency in CNC programming and process troubleshooting.
  • Familiarity with automotive quality standards such as IATF 16949, APQP, PPAP, and FMEA.
  • Experience with fixture design and cutting tool optimisation.
