As a Group Sustainability Manager, you will play a central role in shaping and advancing the Group’s Sustainability Strategy. You will take ownership of driving carbon reduction, strengthening ESG reporting and elevating environmental performance across the business, helping to ensure we remain at the forefront of responsible and forward‑thinking utility services.

Your responsibilities as a Group Sustainability Manager:
- Sustainability Strategy and Governance: Play a key role in shaping and driving the Group Sustainability Strategy, turning ambitions into meaningful action. Work closely with senior leaders to embed sustainability into every part of the business. Keep the organisation ahead of new trends and legislation, guiding the business on what it means and what comes next.
- Carbon and Net Zero Leadership: Lead the Group’s carbon management approach, covering Scope 1 to 3 emissions and long‑term planning. Drive the development and delivery of our Net Zero and Decarbonisation plan. Strengthen carbon data and lead cross‑functional initiatives that accelerate real reductions.
- ESG Reporting and External Requirements: Deliver clear and credible sustainability and ESG reporting for customers and stakeholders. Manage ESG assessments and disclosures, ensuring the business performs strongly and consistently. Stay aligned to evolving frameworks and ensure our reporting remains accurate, transparent and trusted.
- Stakeholder Engagement and Culture Change: Build strong relationships across teams to champion sustainability and drive change. Lead engagement and capability building activities that empower colleagues at all levels. Work with customers, suppliers and partners to support shared sustainability goals. Lead impactful projects that improve environmental performance across waste, water, biodiversity and resource efficiency. Embed meaningful environmental KPIs into our systems and processes. Drive initiatives that reduce our footprint across sites and assets.
- Governance, Performance and Reporting: Develop effective sustainability governance and reporting structures. Monitor progress against key sustainability metrics and share insights with leadership. Ensure compliance with sustainability policies and governance requirements across the Group.
Experience & Qualifications:
- A degree in a relevant subject such as Environmental Science, Sustainability, Environmental Management, Geography or Energy and Environment, or equivalent experience gained in a similar role.
- Professional accreditation such as IEMA Associate, or a willingness to work towards this through ongoing development.
- Experience improving sustainability or environmental performance in an operational, construction, field based or multi‑site setting.
- A good understanding of environmental impact areas including waste, water, pollution prevention, resource efficiency and carbon basics.
- Confidence working with data, including collecting, checking and interpreting sustainability information for reporting.
- Familiarity with ESG and sustainability reporting frameworks such as GRI, GRESB, CSRD or SECR.
- Experience producing sustainability reports, dashboards or updates.
