As our business continues to grow, we are looking to appoint an experienced Senior Electrical Engineer to strengthen our technical capability.
As a Senior Electrical Engineer, you will act as a technical authority, reviewing and approving HV and LV connection designs and overseeing the compliant delivery of EHV installations, earthing systems and associated works. You will ensure all designs meet industry standards, regulatory requirements and the engineering policies of adopting IDNOs, supporting the safe and efficient adoption of networks.

Your responsibilities as a Senior Electrical Engineer:
- Review, assess and approve LV and HV connection designs, providing authoritative technical feedback and ensuring compliance with national standards and DNO and IDNO engineering policies.
- Lead and support the technical appraisal of EHV networks including 33kV, 66kV and 132kV systems, covering substations, switchgear, transformers and network interfaces.
- Produce and review detailed network studies such as load flow, fault level, protection coordination and contingency assessments.
- Provide technical assurance of earthing and protection systems, ensuring compliance with relevant standards and validating calculations, protection settings and relay coordination.
- Ensure all designs meet IDNO adoption requirements, supporting effective engagement with IDNOs, DNOs and ICPs to resolve technical queries and facilitate network adoption.
- Provide technical leadership within the team, mentoring and supporting colleagues in their professional development and progression.
Experience / Knowledge:
- Minimum five years experience in LV, HV and EHV electrical network design, with strong capability in reviewing LV connection designs for compliance, quality and adoption readiness.
- Proven experience in the design or approval of EHV assets including substations, cable routing and thermal and mechanical rating assessments, supported by network studies using tools such as PowerFactory, ETAP, IPSA or equivalent.
- Comprehensive understanding of UK DNO and IDNO connection and adoption processes, including contestable and non-contestable works and ICP and IDNO frameworks.
- Strong working knowledge of UK regulatory and industry standards including ESQCR, G98, G99, ENA Engineering Recommendations and the Construction Design and Management Regulations.
Qualifications:
- Degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline (desirable).
- Or HNC/HND along with experience in Electrical Engineering.
- Chartered Engineer (CEng) status or working toward it (preferred).
- IOSH/NEBOSH certification (desirable).
