As Head of Design - Post Contract, you'll lead and support the post contract design team, making sure the end-to-end design process is followed and that high quality, compliant and cost effective multi utility design solutions are delivered. You'll provide clear strategic direction, oversee the governance of design outputs and ensure approval packs are produced to the required standard for stakeholders including DNOs, Gas Transporters, Water Companies, Last Mile, the Fire Authority and external solicitors. Working from enquiry through to handover, you'll help ensure every design meets business objectives and stakeholder requirements.

Your responsibilities as a Head of Design - Post Contract:
- Lead and support the post contract design team, setting clear direction and ensuring work aligns with business goals from enquiry through to handover.
- Oversee the delivery of high quality, compliant and cost effective multi utility designs across electricity, gas and water networks.
- Maintain strong design governance, quality assurance and technical approval processes in line with internal standards and accreditation requirements.
- Ensure design approval packs, adoption packs, CAD drawings and supporting documentation are accurate, complete and issued within required timescales.
- Act as a key point of contact for design decisions and escalations, providing technical guidance to colleagues, senior leaders, clients and external stakeholders.
- Promote collaboration across design, engineering, estimating and delivery teams to support smooth project delivery and avoid siloed working.
- Lead, coach and develop the design team, supporting resource planning, recruitment needs and continuous improvement across design practices.
- Monitor budgets, resources, timelines, KPIs and design related risks, ensuring activity is accurately tracked and reported through internal systems.
Experience / Knowledge:
- Line Management and Leadership experience as well as utility design experience.
- Incorporated/Degree (desirable but not essential).
