As a Mains Layer, you will take the lead on multi-utility projects installing water, gas and electric mains and services on new housing developments and Industrial and Commercial sites.

Your responsibilities as a Mains Layer:

  • Ensure compliance with all legislative, regulatory, and company safety requirements, working within authorised technical competencies.
  • Complete all work safely, on time, and to specification, maintaining a safe environment and controlling associated risks.
  • Conduct linear excavation and identify existing plant routes accurately, using trial holes as needed.
  • Install, test, and commission utility assets within NJUG standards and authorised competencies.
  • Record and manage asset data accurately via tablet and ensure installed assets are protected properly.
  • Maintain a secure, efficient work environment during gas, water, and electric network operations.
  • Operate, maintain, and secure all plant, tools, and equipment, preparing resources and segregating areas as needed for highway works.
  • Cable laying knowledge and experience
  • Water and Gas Mains Laying experience
  • Full Driving Licence
  • NCO Level 2 in Gas and Water
  • Gas, Water, and Power SHEA Card, Water Hygiene Card, NRSWA Ticket, First Aid, Manual Handling
  • CPCS / NPORS Excavator up to 10t and CPCS / NPORS Dumper
