As a Wastewater Engineer, you will assess all proposed wastewater designs submitted by clients or consultants, ensuring they meet Last Mile's design specifications. You will confirm that designs are fit for purpose and satisfy the requirements of the upstream network operators, as well as Last Mile, from an adoption, ownership, maintenance, and long-term operational perspective. We are looking for the successful candidate to be based at one of our offices, in Stonehouse (Gloucestershire), London, Warrington or Hamilton (Glasgow).
Your responsibilities as a Wastewater Engineer:
- Review customers' designs and technical specifications prior to quote issue, ensuring compliance with Wastewater Network Operator and Last Mile requirements and standards.
- Provide customers with practical and beneficial solutions to their designs.
- Undertake technical design checks against applicable specifications, including WIRS, identifying risks, non-compliances, and opportunities for improvement.
- Record and provide clear technical feedback, recommendations, and required design changes using and present back to the client and Business Development Manager.
- Attend meetings as required to provide further detail on recommendations and support the sales team.
- Review and assess updates to technical standards and processes, implementing changes and communicating impacts across the business.
- Act as the technical escalation point for standards interpretation, design challenges, process issues, and complaints with upstream Network Operators and Last Mile.

- Engineering Degree
The successful candidate will be resilient, adaptable, and results-focused, with strong IT literacy and experience using Microsoft Office tools. They will demonstrate excellent attention to detail, strong written and verbal communication skills, and a proven ability to manage competing priorities effectively.
