Our team is growing, and we are excited to welcome a talented Multi‑Utility Asset Inspector to join us. As a Multi‑Utility Asset Inspector, you will provide a comprehensive advisory and support function for the construction and adoption of water networks that will be taken on by the company. You will carry out site‑based inspections and surveys to ensure that Last Mile Asset Management assets are built in accordance with technical and safety standards. You will also liaise with Self‑Lay Providers to identify any construction issues and work towards achieving successful resolutions. This position is based in England and requires travel to sites in both the north and south, so flexibility and a willingness to travel are essential.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct inspections on all aspects of water network construction, including mains and service laying, ensuring compliance with Water Regulations (1999) and updating business systems accordingly.
  • Perform pre‑ and post‑adoption regulatory inspections, witness pressure testing and chlorination procedures, and identify any non‑compliance issues.
  • Provide guidance to Self‑Lay Providers on health and safety, environmental standards, quality, and best practice, while offering on‑site support for enquiries and variations.
  • Act as the first point of contact for operational issues, liaising with internal and external stakeholders, attending coordination meetings, and ensuring timely resolution in line with guaranteed standards.
  • Prepare monthly reports detailing completed inspections, issues, and trends, and maintain effective communication with upstream water companies as required.

Experience & Knowledge

  • Experience in multi‑utility mains laying or a similar role, with strong knowledge of water network installations and compliance with Water Supply Regulations (1999) and Water Quality Regulations (2018).
  • Practical experience in pressure testing, chlorination procedures, and NRSWA streetworks requirements to ensure safe and compliant operations.
  • Skilled in risk assessment, auditing, and risk management techniques, with the ability to identify non‑compliance and maintain high safety and quality standards.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, produce detailed reports, and communicate effectively with a wide range of stakeholders.
