As a Senior Multi-Utility Designer – Pre-Contract, you’ll generate cost-effective, valued engineering multi-utility designs in line with the customer requirements, including a bill of quantity, financial summary report and formal quote/contract known as a letter of offer. You will also line-manage a team of designers and support trainees through their development programmes.

Your responsibilities as a Senior Multi-Utility Designer – Pre-Contract:

  • Team Leadership and Development: Lead and support Intermediate and Trainee Designers through day-to-day coaching, technical guidance and oversight, while managing key people responsibilities and encouraging continuous development and knowledge sharing.
  • Multi-Utility Design Delivery: Produce coordinated multi-utility designs in line with project requirements and client specifications, covering electricity, gas and water networks, with a strong focus on technical accuracy, cost efficiency and value engineering.
  • Quotations and Commercial Documentation: Prepare accurate quotation packages including bills of quantities, financial summaries and letters of offer, ensuring all documentation is complete, clearly defined and correctly managed within simPRO.
  • Validation, Compliance and Document Control: Manage the technical and commercial validation process, including handling revisions and requotes, maintaining full document control and ensuring compliance with internal processes to support efficient project progression.
  • Stakeholder and Internal Collaboration: Work closely with Business Development, Technical and Estimating teams to resolve queries, support delegated authority approvals and ensure a smooth transition from design through to commercial agreement.

Experience / Qualifications:

  • Multi-Utility Design Experience

The successful candidate will be resilient, adaptable, and results-focused, with strong IT literacy and experience using Microsoft Office tools. They will demonstrate excellent attention to detail, strong written and verbal communication skills, and a proven ability to manage competing priorities effectively.
