Platform Network Engineer is responsible for designing, building, and maintaining the infrastructure that supports high-performance trading operations, with specialized focus on networking solutions in AWS and datacentre environments. This role serves as the first point of contact for all networking projects, leading initiatives to ensure reliability, scalability, and security across the company's technology stack. Role Responsibilities
- Cloud & Network Infrastructure
- Design, deploy, and manage scalable, secure cloud and datacentre infrastructure to support high-performance trading.
- Build advanced AWS networking (VPCs, Transit Gateway, Direct Connect, etc.) across accounts and regions.
- Optimise low-latency connectivity, support collocated servers near exchanges, and implement cost-efficient network solutions.
- Infrastructure as Code & Automation
- Automate infrastructure using Terraform, Ansible, and GitLab CI/CD.
- Apply GitOps for auditable, consistent deployments.
- Build resilient, self-healing network systems.
- Security & Compliance
- Secure network infrastructure using NACLs, Security Groups, and AWS WAF.
- Ensure compliance with AWS CIS Benchmarks and embed best practices into network design and operations.
- Performance & Optimization
- Optimise infrastructure for low-latency, high-availability trading.
- Collaborate with developers on performance tuning and troubleshoot cross-region network issues.
- Monitoring & Observability
- Set up and manage monitoring, alerting, and logging using OpenSearch, Prometheus, and Grafana.
- Develop dashboards for real-time network insights.
- Collaboration & Knowledge Sharing
- Partner with developers, traders, and data engineers to align infrastructure with business needs.
- Provide networking expertise, mentor teammates, maintain clear documentation, and promote cross-team knowledge sharing.

Professional Experience and Skills
- 5+ years in Network Cloud Engineer or Platform Engineer role.
- Advanced AWS knowledge (AWS Professional Certification level).
- Extensive experience with AWS networking services including Transit Gateway, VPC, Direct Connect, and VPC peering.
- Strong understanding of on-premises datacentre networking and colocation environments.
- Proficiency with Terraform and Ansible for infrastructure and network automation.
- Experience with GitLab CI/CD pipelines and GitOps principles.
- Knowledge of container orchestration platforms like Kubernetes (EKS).
- Experience with monitoring and observability tools including OpenSearch, Prometheus, and Grafana.
- Understanding of security best practices and AWS CIS Benchmark standards.
- Experience with low-latency network design and optimization.
- Strong verbal communication and documentation skills.
