It is a very exciting time at Laser Components. As one of eight Laser Components businesses worldwide, we manufacture and supply an extensive range of photonic components such as Optics, Fiber Optics, Optical Systems, Emitters, Detectors and related Optoelectronics. Our customer base covers a diverse range, such as Defence, Aerospace, Quantum Technologies, Biomedical, Industrial Material Processing, Academia and Research. Recent growth has emphasised the need for us to further expand our team, and as such we are on the lookout for an enthusiastic, growth oriented Internal Sales Engineer (ISE).
Responsibilities
- We seek an ISE with a good, technical understanding of Photonics that is looking to build a career in a commercial environment.
- This person will either be a recent Physics or Engineering graduate, or a more experienced technical person looking to move into a sales role.
- The primary role will be to support our sales teams in our key product areas of Infra-red, Visible/NIR components, Optics, Fiber Optics and Optical Systems - to ensure the team meets specific KPIs around customer face time, revenue growth and customer service.
- You will be the first responder to most incoming enquiries, and thus the 'front of house' for our organisation.
- You will support the customer technically as well as commercially, answering technical questions, providing support and also confirming pricing, lead times and specifications.
- Liaising with our Sales Engineers, Office Administration team, Product Managers and Suppliers will be key, so a good, organised communicator who values record keeping, data ownership and commercial awareness is essential.
- You would describe yourself as outgoing and be able to relate to customers, peers and colleagues with an infectious manner, whilst being systematic, predictable and able to focus on detail to ensure target sales are achieved and work harmoniously within the team.
- Whilst you will have proven qualifications in a related discipline you will be keen to learn more about the products we sell.
- The role location is a hybrid one, with attendance at our office in Braintree required around 50% of the time (more so during a training/initiation period).
- Customer visits, exhibition attendance duties, and with an emphasis on customer engagement will also be required from time to time, to increase sales.
- Travel to our other subsidiaries and our suppliers worldwide will also be a potential requirement.
- KPIs include reaching or exceeding target order to enquiry ratio, securing customer visits for the external sales team, generating new revenue, as well as other agreed KPIs.
Qualifications
- Candidates require a technical degree in Physics or related discipline, with a solid understanding of Photonics, specifically Optics and Lasers.
